September is Suicide Prevention month. As many of us know, the work of suicide prevention is going on 24/7, 365. It happens in schools, in homes, at doctor's offices and in emergency departments; but it also happens online, in text messages, and in everyday conversations. For every suicide that is completed, many are averted.
You can play a role in suicide prevention: talk openly when friends and loved ones about what they are going through, get trained to recognize the signs, or share resources that could help those who haven't voiced their pain. Everyone plays a part!
